Itzig, Daniel Jaffe (Jaffe, Daniel)
(1723-99)
   German financier, leader of the Berlin Jewish community. He minted coins on behalf of the Prussian state during the Seven Years' War. In 1797 he was appointed court banker and inspector of road construction. He was also the chief representative of Prussian Jewry and responsible for the foundation of the Jewish Free School.
